This report provides Members with information relating to operational incidents of interest. This has been a busy operational period, therefore the report details only the larger deployments or more complex incidents attended. As a result, some incidents that Members have been made aware of locally, may not form part of the report.
The following summarises the incidents with further detail provided within the body of the paper:

Through the reporting period Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service through National Resilience arrangements have supported several Counties in response to Major Incidents, or National Resilience requests for support to assist with operational support and response to climate related incidents such as wildfires. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have deployed with the newly formed National Resilience wildfire capability to support significant incidents whilst maintaining our own provision within county to effectively respond to our risk.

At 16:59 hours on 3 June 2026, eight fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, two aerial ladder platforms from Preston and Morecambe, the command unit from Fulwood, hose laying lorry from South Shore, breathing apparatus unit from Preston and the drone attended an incident on Lord Street, Fleetwood. The fire involved a commercial premises consisting of three floors, approximately thirty metres by fifty metres. Firefighters used fourteen breathing apparatus, two hose reels, three jets and two thermal imaging cameras. An attendance was maintained and providing support to partners and damping down for two days.

At 23:06 on 17 June 2026, six fire engines, one aerial ladder platform, one command unit and two drones from Lancashire attended a fire on Lawrence Lane, Eccleston. The fire involved a commercial premises. Crews used six breathing apparatus, two main jets and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews were detained for approximately five hours.

At 09:52 on 22 June 2026, three fire engines from Hyndburn, Rawtenstall and Chorley, together with the urban search and rescue team from Chorley and Bamber Bridge, attended an incident on Fountain Street, Accrington. Fire service personnel rescued one casualty from an industrial machine. Fire service resources were in attendance for approximately two hours and twenty minutes.

At 06:16 hours on 30 June 2026, six fire engines from Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Blackburn, Hindley and Wigan, together with the command unit, Stinger and fire service drone, attended Rainford Road, Bickerstaffe in Ormskirk. The fire involved a commercial building approximately thirty metres by sixty metres, which was well alight. The Fire and Rescue Service remained in attendance for 2 days damping down before safely handing the incident over.

At 01:25 hours on 18 July 2026, several appliances, the high volume pump, command unit, double hose box, aerial ladder platform and drone from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at Longridge Road, Preston. Firefighters used main jets, and aerial firefighting to extinguish a fire involving large quantities of waste and metal the fire and crews remained in attendance for over twelve hours.

At 20:09 hours on 21 July 2026, eight fire engines, one water bowser and a control unit from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended a large fire involving a large quantity of hay in a hay storage area on a farm off Lee Lane, Bispham near Ormskirk. Firefighters extinguished the fire using three main line jets and six breathing apparatus. Three casualties sustained slight smoke inhalation, all declined hospital treatment, and crews remained in attendance at the time of reporting.

On 11 August 2026 at 16:22 hours, four fire engines from Fulwood, Bamber Bridge and Leyland, with the aerial ladder platform from Preston, attended a derelict building fire on Preston Road in Clayton. Crews used hose reels, main jets and breathing apparatus, and were on scene for approximately ten hours.

At 18:45 on 22 August 2026, four fire engines from Hyndburn, Blackburn, Burnley and Nelson attended an incident on Summer Street, Nelson. The persons reported fire involved three casualties who were taken to hospital. Fire service personnel used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews were detained for four hours and thirty minutes.

Potential impact on local environment in relation to operational incidents. Significant incidents benefit from the attendance of specialist water towers and the hazardous materials unit both of which have positive impacts on firefighting operations and reduce environmental impacts.
